Helpful Tips for Selecting a Wire Mesh

Clarence Gray

When it comes to wire mesh for industrial and manufacturing applications, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. There are instead a variety of factors that you need to consider when making your selection. Remember, the more accurate your selection, the more precise your finished product. Whether you need a mesh screen for liquid or solid particles, here are some factors to consider when making your choice.

Style

The selection process should begin with an assessment of the style of the wire mesh. The form of the mesh will offer details about its capturing style, which is the method used to prevent the particles from making their way through the screen.

For example, some screens allow the filtered material to rest on top of the mesh screen and some options actually trap the particles between the mesh layers. Neither scenario is better than the other. You must assess your needs to determine which is best for your particular application. If you're not sure, it's best to partner with a professional.

Size

The size of the mesh is another important factor. To make your selection in this area, focus on the type of materials you plan to filter out. The larger the size of this material, the larger the openings in the mesh, but the smaller the size, the smaller the openings must be.

If you select a mesh with openings that are too large for the material you are filtering, this will easily be a waste of your time, because the mesh won't perform the way you need it to. If it's essential that the filtered material not make its way through the mesh, careful consideration in this area is vital.

Number

It's also wise to consider the number of openings in a mesh screen. Generally, the size of the openings will offer a reference point for the number of openings it will have, as there is no standard number of openings. In many instances, the larger the openings, the fewer the number of openings on the mesh screen. Conversely, the smaller the openings, the more there will be.

However, similar to the size of the openings, if you choose a mesh screen with too few openings, this will significantly slow down your filtering process and make the filtering process much more of a hassle, so keep this in mind.

Ensure you're taking your time when choosing a wire mesh. A professional can help with the selection process.

Finding Better Manufacturing Equipment

After I started working in a factory for my grandfather, I realized that some of the equipment needed to be updated in a bad way. It was really old, and some portions were visibly breaking. I decided to make things right by finding better manufacturing equipment for him, so I started working on it right away. I was able to find an amazing deal on some new pieces to add to the workshop, and it really paid off. After about six months of using the new equipment, things were much better. This blog is all about the importance of using better equipment.
