Gather the appropriate tools

• Metal stamping dyes in the size and font of your choosing
• A jewelry hammer
• A steel bench block
• Ashes
• A Clean rag
• A necklace

Choose the right word or phrase

You want to add a word or phrase on the blank that means something and that is going to fit. You will only have a limited amount of space on a blank intended to be a necklace. This is why you should keep it to a few words or less.

Create your personalized piece of jewelry

You want to make sure you are set up in a spot where you aren't going to bother anyone else with the banging you need to do. Set the steel bench block on a strong and level spot. Place one of the rounds on the block and make sure you choose how you are going to lay out the word or short message you will be stamping onto it.

Put the metal stamping dies in position one by one and use the jewelry hammer to give them a solid single blow to cause the character to be stamped into the blank. Once you are done saying what you want on it, then you want to take some ashes on the tip of your finger and rub them into the word or phrase to give them a darker color and help them stand out. Use the clean rag to polish up the rest of the blank.

Put the completed piece onto a necklace. You can hang it from a regular necklace or make one out of leather string. Now your gift is created and ready to give the person it is intended for.
